Check Engine Light & Car Diagnostics

Mobile check engine light diagnosis in Temecula, Murrieta and Menifee. Full scan tool, live data, smoke testing and electrical tracing at your home or work. Diagnostic fee comes off the repair.

A proper diagnosis in the Temecula Valley runs $95 to $150, takes about an hour at your curb, and that fee comes straight off the repair if you have us do the work.

At A Glance

  • Full bidirectional scan, not a $20 code reader - we command components and watch them respond
  • Live data under load, freeze frame and readiness monitors all get read before anything is quoted
  • Smoke testing for EVAP and vacuum leaks, and a meter on the wire for electrical faults
  • You get the codes, the readings and the reasoning in writing - not just a part number

A code is a symptom, not an answer

Every parts store in Temecula will read your codes for free, and that is genuinely useful - it tells you which system is unhappy. What it does not tell you is which part failed. A P0301 misfire on cylinder one can be a coil, a plug, an injector, a wiring fault, a vacuum leak or low compression. Six different repairs, six different prices, and only one of them fixes the car.

We start where the free scan stops. Freeze frame data shows the conditions when the fault set. Live data shows what the sensors are reporting right now, with the engine loaded rather than idling in a parking bay. Bidirectional control lets us command a component on and off and watch whether the car responds. By the time we quote you a repair, we have proved the failure rather than guessed it.

What we test with

Scan tools that talk to every module, not just the engine - body control, ABS, transmission, airbag, TPMS and telematics all store their own faults, and a fault in one can look like a fault in another. A smoke machine for EVAP and intake leaks, which finds in ten minutes what a code will only ever describe. A multimeter and a test light for the electrical work, because voltage drop across a corroded ground is invisible to a scan tool.

Fuel pressure, compression and cylinder leak-down testing come out when the data points that way. On older Temecula Valley trucks and pre-OBD classics there is no data at all, and the job goes back to compression, spark and fuel in that order.

Where we do it

Almost all of it happens where your car already is - a driveway in Redhawk, a business park off Jefferson, an apartment lot in Murrieta, a work parking lot in Menifee. You do not need to be there the whole time, and you do not need a ride home.

Some faults need a lift and a full day: intermittent electrical gremlins, transmission internals, anything that needs the car driven under specific conditions repeatedly. Those move to our garage, and the diagnostic time still comes off the repair.

FAQ

Common Questions

How much is a diagnostic in Temecula?

Between $95 and $150 depending on the system and how long the fault takes to reproduce. If you have us do the repair, that fee comes off the bill. We tell you the number before we drive out, not after.

Can you tell me what is wrong over the phone?

We can usually narrow it down and tell you roughly what a repair costs, and we are happy to do that for free. What we will not do is quote a part off a code without testing - that is how people end up buying three parts to fix one problem.

My check engine light is on but the car drives fine. Is it urgent?

It depends what set it. A loose fuel cap and a failing catalytic converter both light the same lamp. A flashing light is different - that means active misfire and unburnt fuel going into the converter, and you should stop driving it. Call us the same day.

Will you clear the code so I can pass smog?

We will clear codes after a repair, but clearing them to hide a fault does not work - the readiness monitors reset too, and the smog station fails you for incomplete monitors. We would rather fix the fault and let it pass properly.
