A squeal on light braking is usually the wear indicator doing exactly its job - you have a few weeks. A grind is the backing plate on the rotor, and every mile after that is money: rotors that could have been reused are now scrap, and a caliper that overheats is next.
A pedal that goes soft, sinks slowly at a stop light, or needs pumping is a fluid or hydraulic problem, not a pad problem. That is a same-day call. Pulling to one side under braking usually means a seized slide pin or a collapsed hose, and both are cheap fixes if you catch them before they cook a rotor.
Wheels off, caliper off, old pads and rotor out. Slide pins cleaned and re-greased with high-temp lube, because a sticking pin is what wears one pad twice as fast as the other. Hardware clips replaced, not reused. Rotor hub face cleaned back to bare metal so the new rotor sits flat and does not read as warped after a month.
New rotor and pads on, caliper torqued to spec, wheels torqued in a star pattern with a torque wrench rather than a rattle gun. Then a road test with a proper bedding-in procedure, because pads that are not bedded properly glaze and squeal no matter how good they are.
We will fit whatever tier you want. Mid-grade ceramic pads and coated rotors are what most people should be buying - quiet, low dust, and they last. Budget semi-metallics are cheaper up front and noisier forever. Performance pads make sense on a truck that tows or a car that sees Ortega Highway on weekends.
Ask about the lifetime pad option. If you keep the car, it usually pays for itself on the second set.

About an hour per axle for pads and rotors on a normal car. Both axles, a fluid flush and a road test is a two to three hour visit. Seized hardware and rusted-in rotors add time, and we will tell you before we start if we can see it.
No. Plenty of customers leave the key and go to work. We photograph everything before and after, and you approve any extra work by text before we do it.
Usually not worth it. Modern rotors are thin enough from the factory that a cut leaves very little material, and new rotors often cost less than the machining labor. If yours have the thickness for it we will say so.
Yes - half tons, three-quarter tons, work vans and most RVs. Bigger rotors and heavier calipers add a little time, not a different process.
